Generic Anti Depressants F.A.Q.
What are Antidepressants?
Antidepressants are a class of drugs which are used to treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and other mental health disorders. There are four main types of antidepressants: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Depression and other mood disorders are thought to be caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters, chemical messengers in the brain which regulate mood. Antidepressants work by affecting these neurotransmitters so there are more of them and mood is elevated.
